The purpose of this article is to review the new 6mm 115 DTAC bullet by David Tubb. Although this is not a DTAC vs Hybrid article, I will be comparing it with the Berger 105 Hybrid. The Hybrid is currently the most popular bullet for the 6mm in the PRS/Tactical style matches, so it only makes sense to see how the DTAC stacks up against a known ... Dec 22, 2018 · Testing today is with the Sierra Match King 110 gr HPBT in 6mm Creedmoor. We are evaluating a load using my Ruger Precision Rifle. There is velocity and group data at 150 yards. This high-BC 6mm bullet pushes the limits of the twist rate of our barrel. We use Lapua Brass along with CCI-41 primers to see if these magic bullets will stabilize in our 1:7.7 twist barrel. Jun 28, 2017 · The three 6mm Creedmoor loads that Copper Creek carries are: 105- grain Hornady BTHP, 105- grain Berger Hybrid and 115- grain DTAC. Finding Copper Creek Cartridge Co. was a pleasant surprise, and we look forward to doing business with them in the future. Oddly enough, I still haven't had much success with them in the 7.5-twist Krieger - whether jumped or jammed. I just recently finished a 6XC on a trued Howa 1500 with a 28" Bartlein 7.8-twist .237" bore bbl.; load development is very preliminary, but it would appear that the Berger 115s perfer to be jumped in this bbl. also. Load was Russian primers, Hogdgon 4350, and 6XC brass with a moly-coated bullet. The group started with the first X fired -- took about 4 shots to get all centered up. We use white pasters on the black when group shooting -- it is a very good training aid since you can see all of your previous shots through a spotting scope while shooting.
Well I got a 6XC rifle on the way. Need some load data. Looked at Tubbs sight...not much there in the way of load data. I have 16lbs of Varget, some RL-15,19,and 22....lots of CCI BR-2 primers and a bunch of 115 DTAC's and 115 VLD's. Now I just need to know where to start. Take care,Stan

Loading the 6XC with 115gr DTAC bullet -- By David Tubb CARTRIDGE PROPERTIES: Water capacity of the Superior Shooting Systems Inc. (DTAC) 6XC case is just under 50 grains capacity. Case neck length is .305 inches so a 115 gr. DTAC bullet seated .015 inches in front of the neck-shoulder junction will have .290 inches of neck support at the start of use in a newly chambered barrel.
The most intriguing bullets for the 6XC, however, are the Berger 115 VLD and the DTAC 115 grain bullet manufactured by Sierra. One of my goals in the preparation of this article is to give a useful comparison of the 105 and 115 VLD Bergers and the 115 DTAC bullets at 1000 yards with loads tailored to each.
I have used the DTAC's, they were developed by Tubb to suit the XC case which has a little more capacity than the 6x47. I used them with a dodgy bedded rifle and they grouped very well. 6 shots into 1 hole @ 100 yds. I haven't used them since the rifle has been rebedded. They showed enough for me to try again. Jamming them in .0015" worked best ...

The Reloder 16 burn rate is slightly faster than that of Reloder 17, well within the 4350 burn speed band. Never exceed maximum loads because excessive chamber pressure will result. 3. Discontinue firing at the first sign of excessive pressure or upon noticing a change in the report of the firearm.

The first testing done with the rifle was with H4831SC powder, and a load of 43.5 gr. of it seemed very accurate at 100 yards with the DTAC 115’s. When this load was chronographed, the muzzle velocity of the 115 DTAC’s was right around 3000 fps (right in the target velocity range).
